5 concepts that drive our designers
What is smart design?
Smart design is all about creating environments with a simple, durable, optimal, agile and responsive interior design, by prioritizing the various needs of the individuals who interact with the space. The user is always top of mind, be it for real estate, condo, residential, office or commercial design. We examine the various groups as well as their interactions with the environment, with the goal of delivering superior user experiences. Day in, day out, we strive to unlock solutions to interlace aesthetics and functionality.
Simple environments:
Designing a space with the purpose of making it simple and practical is a complex task that is best left to a trustworthy interior design firm. Whether it’s a home, a common area or a business, harmonizing, organizing and putting everything in order, room by room, calls for meticulous work to come up with a stunning yet practical interior design. The Clairoux team is driven by a common desire to strike a perfect balance between each and every aspect of a space, for a logical and smooth end result. This is one of the design principles that were applied for the Drummond units by Montreal developer Samcon.
Durable materials:
You can never emphasize too much the importance of durability when it comes to design and consumption in general. In this day and age, where everything happens at lightning speed, it’s important to take the time to choose quality materials and create timeless designs. The Clairoux team uses responsible, affordable resources to create environments that will make you feel great, for years to come. Our large-scale projects focused on the local economy have a real impact on the community. Within Clairoux interior design projects, the idea of comfort is centrefold, but not at any cost. Whether it’s choosing materials, decorations or layout, durability is consistently applied throughout our various common area design projects, such as Club Marin. Condominiums cannot go around revamping their common areas every other year. This is why they turn to our team.
Optimal design:
Everyone’s daily life is filled with interactions and experiences set in various environments. There’s no doubt that these environments should be as functional as possible. The team of interior designers at Clairoux analyzes the experiences of the individuals in the environment at hand with the goal of making the space user-friendly, accessible and enjoyable. What drives us on a daily basis is to create smooth living, work, entertainment and transient experiences. The Clairoux team follows the user in his or her daily routine. For the Ottawa University Rideau student residence, we followed this principle to design the lobby, lounge, co-working space, community kitchen, common areas, as well as the various units. Our goal was to optimize each and every space to offer students an unparalleled experience.
Agile solutions:
Spatial concerns are becoming more and more present. Agile solutions are focused on developing new solutions aimed at maximizing the space and adapting it to the realities of its users. This principle is part of a vision to build living spaces adapted to the needs of users, no matter their nature or level of complexity. When entrusted with the Stanbrooke interior design project, Clairoux and its founder, Frédric Clairoux, accepted to take part in the cutting-edge design project of studios featuring various challenges, of which space optimization was the most compelling. Demonstrating great agility, we delivered an ingenious result, carefully planned out, down to the smallest details.
Responsive design:
Needs change over time, and designs must remain functional as these changes take place. To achieve this, an analysis is performed of the short, medium and long-term needs of the users as individuals, couples and/or families. The environment is then adapted to meet these needs. It’s all about bridging aesthetics and functionality. Projects involving the conversion of duplexes into single-family or intergenerational homes are excellent examples of responsive design in action. The environment must be able to adapt to the different needs that change daily.
